1 John 1 Corinthians 1 Thessalonians Colossians Galatians James There are numerous times that the Word instructs us to live in Biblical community. To not only support each other, but to reach out when we need that support. Our beautiful community demonstrated exactly that. For our first fundraising effort, we organized a garage sale. This helped us clear out what will hopefully one day become a child's room, and raise some money to help begin to create a welcoming environment for future foster children. Our Kingsland Baptist community group showed up with donations, spent evenings at our home sorting and pricing items, and were up bright and early to help with the sale. One of my coworkers was there to show support along with her tween son. A member of my 9th-grade (yes, a teenager!) LifeGroup was there at 6 a.m. for set up and didn't leave until it was over. Members of the Tapestry Ministry (a ministry especially for foster and adoptive families) came to love on us and show support. Friends brought smoothies and their babies. The men of our group circled around my husband and prayed over our future family. I simply cannot in a measly blog post explain to you all of the ways our community loved on us through a seemingly simple fundraiser, Yes, for a garage sale it was pretty successful. But it was more than that. It gave us comfort in knowing that as we move forward in this journey when we look behind us, we have a huge rally of support behind us. xoxo
