Mother's Day is hard for a variety of reasons. One because of the loss we have experienced of our biological children. Another because we have said "goodbye" to foster children—not knowing if we will ever see them again.
But also because most people give us a qualifier. We are not simply "moms," we are "foster mom." Or in the eyes of the State, a secondary caregiver.
